Asda Mobile's site had been built desktop first and needed to be optimised for mobile.
I lead the optimisation project which included tracking and fixing issues relating to the site's responsiveness.
Asbestos use has a colourful history that I thought would be engaging if it was illustrated. As the aim of the project was to engage potential clients, I decided that the most engaging user experience would be a full page scrolling timeline, instead of including a static illustration within the bounds of a page on the website. I researched the history of asbestos in detail and created a storyboard of what illustrations could be created to make the facts more memorable.
I had access to a library of icons that I was able to use for the project and, after writing the code for the basic structure of the timeline, I created an image in photoshop that would act as the background for the timeline.
To make the user experience as easy as possible, I built the timeline to be responsive, used signifiers in appropriate places to show users where they needed to scroll to read more text, and minimised the size of each part of the illustration to speed up the loading of the timeline and to minimise the amount of scrolling a user would have to do to read all of the history.
This timeline is now one of the most in depth and engaging pieces of content available online about the history of asbestos. We are now waiting until the next Mesothelioma Awareness Week to share it on social media for the highest engagement.
To raise awareness about cycling safety I designed and built an interactive guide to show the risks to cyclists on the road. The guide uses SVG and GSAP to animate a cyclist going along the road and encountering various risks. Text matching the risk appears above the illustration to explain what cyclists can do to keep safe.
I started by deciding what the risks were going to be based on content we had already created and published. I then sketched out what those risks would look like in the guide as well as what the cyclist would look like.
I did some research and decided to use SVG and GSAP for the animations as those seemed the fastest and most reliable options for responsive animations. I then created the illustration using Adobe Illustrator. When the design was finished I imported into my code as an SVG and started working on the JavaScript animations to make it work.
Initially I created it so that all of the text was loaded from JavaScript but I was then informed that SEO would be an issue with that method and so I had to show all of the content in HTML and hide the bits that weren’t yet relevant. This resulted in an issue where the illustration ‘jumps’ when the text is changed due to hiding and showing divs of text. In the future I hope to find a way to have dynamic text, a responsive SVG, and an SEO friendly guide without losing out on the smooth animation I first created.
Aviation Mart is a site for buying and selling airplanes and airplane parts.
We were able to build and deliver this website on a tight deadline and still make it responsive across all browsers and devices.
The areas of the site that I built are the home page, search page, contact page, and the vendor store pages. When building these pages I focused on creating a great user experience for every visitor. I took into account their reason for visiting each page and made sure they would easily be able to find what they were looking for in each section.
Uporium’s theme manager is a product that takes the risk out of updating a website for ecommerce store owners who aren’t tech savvy. It makes it easy for users to experiment with different brand colours, fonts, and layouts, by loading a preview of their current website that they can experiment with, without having to worry that any customers will see the changes they’ve made until they’re ready.
My role was to design, develop, and test all UIs related to this project. I collaborated with web development and marketing to launch this project.
DailyWhoop is an app that encourages users to record their daily wins and successes as part of an ongoing motivation routine. It removes the effort of recording, storing, and organising their wins and encourages daily recordings.
My role was to review the user experience of the app prototype and suggest changes that would make the app more user friendly and intuitive. I then designed the UI for the final app prototype so it could be tested with long term users and then showcased to potential investors.

Jess evaluated the usability of our website as well as the design. She was tasked to ensure visitors convert to clients. She has fantastic eye for detail and picked up even the smallest of inconsistencies. She direct our attention to areas for improvement but also offered valuable and specific suggestions. Her feedback was detailed, meticulous and prompt. Not only that, Jess is wonderfully professional yet approachable. I recommend her highly and look forward to working with her in the future.
I had an Android app developed and knew that UX wasn't one of my strong suits. Jess provided tons of VERY thorough recommendations (complete with screenshots of how it would look and the justification for each recommendation). She's one of the clearest communicators I've worked with and had some great UX ideas. I implemented all of them.
